The Chamber daily recognizes the fact that our community will only prosper and advance to the degree that we effectively respond to your business and personal needs. As a result, the customers and leaders of our Chamber recently established an aggressive set of new leadership expectations for our organization. The Chamber was charged with becoming
The private sector's focal point for actively enrolling and empowering leaders dedicated to making metro Wichita a prosperous and globally competitive community.
This vision has saturated every effort and offering of your Chamber. The Board of Directors and Chamber staff have identified four new delivery platforms that will help us carry out this mission:
The Chamber, via its Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition (GWEDC) efforts, will position Wichita to secure new jobs, expand our existing job base and gain new capital investment in the region. Gaining and maintaining high quality, high paying jobs for our region is the "heartbeat" of our commitment to advance the wealth and well-being of all South Central Kansans.
The rise or fall of Kansas and our south central region, over the next decade, will largely be determined by the attractiveness of our business and employment environments. Business owners and site selectors will be picking the "winners and losers" in this game, and the competition will be global and fierce.
The Chamber will play a major role in clearly and aggressively lobbying for the type of business cost, tort, regulatory, tax and employee benefit environments that Kansas must possess to be a global marketplace winner.
The rate and magnitude of change that is occurring in our daily professional, organizational and personal lives is greater than any we have previously experienced and it is accelerating. Regional economies and their top communities, due to this rapid change environment, will have to expertly marshal leadership and resource assets to effectively seize today's opportunities and contend with tomorrow's challenges.
The Chamber will strategically arm current decision makers to successfully navigate the challenges ahead and prepare future leaders to play their prospective roles in this demanding community advancement environment.
The driving goal of the Chamber is to assure the company health and future prosperity of each business member. Every segment of our customer base defines the inputs for this business prosperity equation differently. However, there is one commonality among our diverse customers, revealed in both our spring and fall 2004 membership surveys – every segment of our membership wants more. More business assistance, more relevant market information, more professional and employee training, a clearer direction for the future of our business community, more access to prospective customers and more programming for your exact needs.
The Community Advancement platform is our delivery area for assessing and effectively fulfilling your individual business requests and responding to our collective business community's major "road blocks." Great energy is being invested in a number of critical initiatives in this delivery area.
